The Atomic Bomb
The Atomic Bomb was made sometime between WWI and the Cold War by the United States. This gave the US a great advantage over all the other countries. They used the A-bomb as a threat to other to back down. The Soviets were still mad at the US from WWI, so they sent two Russian spies named Ethel and Julius Rosenberg to steal the plan for the A-bomb. The US was now not in the technology lead and had the fear of their own creation being dropped on them by the Soviets. In 1949 a US aircraft was flying over a Russian island and picked up radioactivity. They were building an A-bomb. President Truman told The Unites states this and now even more people were in fear. They made up safety precautions of what to do if an A-bomb would be ever dropped. One action they could do was called Duck and Cover. If an A-bomb was dropped you would, get down on the ground, get close to a wall of some sort, and put your hands over your head. The duck and cover never had to be used, but it would have if an A-bomb was ever dropped.
