The Korean War
The Korean War started when North Korea, which was Communist, invaded South Korea, which had a democratic government, to try and turn them into one big communist country. North Korea first invaded by crossing the 38th parallel, which is what divides North Korea from South Korea, and headed to Pusan. At this time in the war they were winning. When the US and United Nations hear about this, they decided to invade as well, but are on South Korea’s side. This puts South Korea ahead and winning the war. General MacArthur is debating on using the A-bomb even though President Truman doesn't want to. MacArthur is fired and over 300,000 Chinese troops come and demolished 20,000 US and United Nation troops. This is the first war where African Americans and whites fought together.
